Subconscious Art of Amazon Forest
This set of art works address subconscious images derived from experiences in the Amazon Rainforest.  The rainforest is being transformed and changed forever through speculative interests evident from mining, deforestation, and clearing the land for cattle ranches.  These art pieces reference what has occurred in the Amazon Rainforest as a result of conquest and current development.
To understand the destruction of the Amazon Rainforest, I spent time with the Uitoto (also spelled as Huitoto or Witoto) tribe in the Amazon Rainforest.  The medium used in these works were inspired by the Uitotos who use indigenous inks made from plants to color themselves and their clothing.  In the tradition of their spiritual colors, all the present works depicted were made with indigenous inks given to me by the shaman of the tribe.

Though I call my imagery “mutations,” others may call them by other names, i.e., fears, preoccupations, unresolved issues, obsessions, etc .  In this series of works, mutations are my subconscious interpretations of genetic adaptations that are occurring alongside the visible changes in the Amazon Rainforest.
