HEGIRA & OTHER PASSAGES
The theme for this exhibition is HEGIRA & OTHER PASSAGES. “Hegira,”
derives from the Arabic word “hijra,” which means departure or any flight or journey to a more desirable or congenial place. Bihac is presently struggling to cope with migrants who are in route to Europe from Syria, Iraq, Turkey, Algeria, and Afghanistan. Bosnia, in general, still struggles in their passage from war to peace. These are human issues common to all world citizens. Thus, American artists will create artwork related to their own experiences with passages in American society, such as the following: political (including migrant issues),
psychological, social, geographic, environmental, etc.
